Cyclones ‘A team' clinches Tri-Valley division title

NORWICH – The Cyclones “A” team won the Tri-Valley League Eastern Division Championship Sunday at Alumni Field with a convincing 37-7 win over the undefeated Utica Proctor Bulldogs.

The Cyclones’ line dominated play on both sides of the ball holding the speedy Bulldogs to three first downs and a kick-off return for their only touchdown.  The Norwich offense controlled the game and the clock with its running game.

The Cyclones opened the scoring with a safety in the first quarter.  Michael Sutton scored on a four-yard run in the second, and had a 15-yard TD pass to John Marvin for a 16-7 halftime lead.

Michael Oralls chewed up the Bulldogs’ defense and had two third-quarter TD runs of four and five yards. Trent Stone add a 20-yard touchdown in the fourth.

Randy Stokes kicked two extra points, and Sutton ran one in. Frank Garcia, Keegan Franklin, and Sutton ran well behind the impressive Cyclones line.

On defense, Spencer Stone blocked a punt and recovered a fumble, Matt Burke had a fumble recovery, and Stokes added a dazzling interception return to the 10.  Matt Craig, Garcia, Storm Cook, Marvin, and Sutton played big defense as well.
