Greene 99, Delhi 80
DELHI – Greene was strong at the beginning and strong at the end of its meet with Delhi Tuesday night.
The Trojans overcame their top MAC rival winning the first three events, and then closing with three wins to win their season-opener.
“It’s always a heavyweight bout between us and Delhi, and that’s what it will probably be at the league championships later this year,” said Greene coach Mike Platta. “Our swimmers were mentally and physically prepared tonight.”
Jessica Brooks, making her debut for the Trojans, was a four-time winner to lead the way. Katie Crowe had two victories, while Leah Kazalski and Jessica Treadwell added a pair of wins.

NORWICH – Needing to win the last event for its first victory this season, the Tornado edged out Sus Valley, and added a third-place in the meet-closing 400-yard freestyle relay Tuesday night.
“It was definitely even all the way through the meet, and we needed the last event,” said Norwich coach Amanda Downey, who said her club trailed by one point entering the last relay.
Sara Loomis keyed Norwich’s victory winning tight races in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles. Makenzie Williams was a double winner taking the 200 individual medley and 100-yard breaststroke, while Erin Gawronski claimed a first in the 500-yard freestyle.
“It was back and forth the whole way, and it was nice to get our first win,” Downey said.

“Hopefully it will sink in (for our team) how well we played in the second half,” said Norwich coach Jeremy Bolton. “We did a great job tying the game up, but we expended all of our energy, and didn’t have a lot left for overtime.”

Sidney 3, B-G 1
BAINBRIDGE – Sidney’s Dani Gravel had two of her three goals in the first half to lead the Warriors past host B-G.
The Bobcats sustained more offense than any of their previous six games, and the pressure in the Sidney zone yielded Tasha Gould’s goal. “I changed things around and loaded up our front line more,” said B-G coach George Williams, who admitted he sacrificed some defense with the alignment change. “Both teams could have scored more goals, and it was our best game of the season.”
B-G (0-7) hosts Greene Saturday at 11 a.m.
