Norwich 12, Oneonta 9
ONEONTA – Norwich ended a seven-year winless drought against Oneonta Wednesday night as Mike Moon earned a clutch save to support winning pitcher Tim Clark.
Moon entered the game with one out, the bases loaded, and three Oneonta runs already on the board. He struck out the next OHS batter and induced a pop out to end the game. “Moon really came through with senior leadership at the end,” said Norwich coach John Martinson, whose club celebrated the victory with a meal at Brooks Chicken. “This was a big win.”
Richie Bonney was 2-for-2 with three RBI and a solo home run to left field. Moon, Christian Hotaling, and Paddy Law all and two RBI apiece, and Clark was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Clark pitched six innings to win his third straight decision.
“We were more relaxed at the plate tongiht and we seemed to have a greater sense of confidence,” Martinson said. “We need to cut down on our fielding errors, but I was pleased with the resiliency we showed in the seventh inning.”

Sherburne-Earlville 8, Ilion 6
SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville upended the last team to hand it a loss, and extended its winning streak to nine games on Wednesday.
The Marauders trailed by three runs heading to the bottom of the fourth. Senior Stephen Buddenhagen cleared the bases with a three-run triple to tie the game, and Jake Sampson’s first-pitch single scored Buddenhagen with the go-ahead run.
The Marauders shook off a seven-error game, their poorest defensive performance since the early stages of the season.
“When we play poorly, we proved we can still pull it out,” said S-E coach Brian Hicks. “That’s the good thing about having a solid ballclub.”
Number eight and nine hitters, Derek Ferris and Phil Price, each had three hits. Sampson collected three hits as well. The Marauders (12-3) host Cooperstown Friday.

Walton 11, Oxford 8
WALTON – Walton had eight of its 10 hits in a 10-run fifth inning to erase Oxford’s four-run lead and pick up a non-division victory Wednesday.
Chad Gardepe’s two-run single starting the Warriors’ scoring, and Steve Kaminsky’s RBI single to right field put Walton in front, 6-5.
“There weren’t any cheap hits or bloopers. They hit the ball hard,” said Oxford coach Chris Palmer of the Walton uprising. “It was line drive after line drive, and the first 10 batters in that inning all reached base.”
Derrick Head had two hits and one RBI for Oxford (6-2, 8-6), and P.J. Hubman smacked an RBI triple in the second that upped Oxford’s lead to 4-0.

G-MU 5, Edmeston 1
COPES CORNERS – G-MU defeated Edmeston for the first time in several years, and moved into a tie for first with the Panthers in Tri-Valley League division play.
All the runs G-MU would need came in the third inning, and both were directly linked to Edmeston errors. Tyler Wildfeir singled and Andrew Delmar’s sharp single was misplayed in the outfield allowing Wildfeir to score. Delmar moved up on the play, and he scored on a wild pick-off attempt.
Wildfeir added insurance with a tape-measure two-run homer in the fourth making it 4-1. Cody Luettger’s RBI single in the fifth wrapped up the scoring.
“The kids felt great about this and handled it well today,” said G-MU coach Jim Johnson. “We didn’t make any key mistakes, and we took advantage of their mistakes.”
Cody Hall was dominant on the mound allowing two hits for the win. He struck out 15 to put his career strikeout total over 200.
Jordan Williams tripled for Edmeston and scored his team’s lone run on a passed ball.

Greene 5, B-G 3
BAINBRIDGE – Greene made it five straight victories in a well-pitched game won by the Trojans’ Scott Gorton.
Gorton allowed the first four B-G runners of the game to reach base, and the Bobcats surged to a 2-0 lead. After that, he retired 12 straight B-G batters.
“We played well, but we didn’t take full advantage in that first inning,” said B-G coach Pete Mansheffer.
Greene tied the game in the third with RBIs from Nate Whittaker and Nic Puglisi. Dan Carlin had a go-ahead RBI double in the fifth, and Dave Fors added a run-scoring hit.
Gorton and Puglisi had 2-for-4 days at the plate.
Dan Gormley and Paul Parsons had two hits for B-G.
Gorton struck out eight and walked two. Losing pitcher Dustin Rutz had a solid four-strikeout, zero-walk effort.

Delhi 6, Afton 1
AFTON – Troy Tucker allowed just a first-inning single, and Delhi went on to deal Afton its second straight defeat this week on Wednesday.
“We didn’t play bad defensively, they have good speed, and I bet half of their basehits were infield hits,” said Afton coach Ron Rapp. “I know they had four errors, but they fielded the ball well. They didn’t bobble one ball, all of their errors were throwing errors.”
Tucker had seven strikeouts and three walks. The lone run for Afton came in the third after a pair of Delhi throwing errors.
Delhi forged ahead in the fifth scoring two runs. Luke Burns’ ground-rule double tied the game, and Afton’s lone error of the game plated the go-ahead run.
Burns had three hits, two runs, an RBI, and two stolen bases to lead Delhi. “We had guys in scoring position several times, but we couldn’t put across a run with a timely hit,” Rapp said.
