NORWICH – Oneonta’s boys dominated the sprinting events, and the Yellowjackets’ girls won five of six field events in a sweep of the Purple Tornado squads Tuesday at Norwich High School.
Mike Reilly (110, 400 hurdles), along with Steven Spittler (800, 1,600 meters) came home with a pair of wins to lead NHS.
Meanwhile, Oneonta swept the 100-meter dash and finished one-two in the 200-meter race to help build its lead.
Sarah Bonnell’s four overall first-place finishes paced Norwich’s girls, who captured seven of the 11 running events. Kayla May added three victories for Norwich including a sweep of the two hurdles events.
“They swept the 3,000 meters and the triple jump, that was the difference in the girls’ meet,” said Norwich co-head coach, Paul Sims.

Windsor 9, Norwich 5
WINDSOR – Playing its first game in 19 days, the rust was apparent on Norwich’s game, who committed five errors in a road loss to Windsor.
The Black Knights expanded a three-run lead to seven in the sixth inning with Dylan Kay’s two-run double the key blow. “Unfortunately, we made some errors at inopportune times,” said Norwich coach John Martinson. “We had runners in scoring position, but we weren’t able to drive in runs in key situations.”
Dan Buchert was 3-for-4 to lead Windsor, and Kay had two hits and two runs scored.
Christian Hotaling finished 2-for-3 with a single RBI and a run scored for Norwich (0-2), who play at Chenango Forks today.
