Greene 97, S-E 70
GREENE – Greene ran its MAC unbeaten streak to 41 meets, and set two new school records in Thursday’s win over Sherburne-Earlville.
Patrick Kelsey, swimming the 500-yard freestyle for the first time this season, completed the distance event in 5:43.52, a seven-second drop over the previous record.
George Flanagan shattered the 100-yard breaststroke mark as well. He went more than two seconds below his personal-best time, and the 1:06.20 was over 1 1/2 seconds better than the previous standard of 1:07.93. “Before the meet, Patrick and George said their goals were to set records tonight,” Platta said. “It’s a pleasant surprise for them to get the records this late in the season. We’ve been putting in nearly 4,000 yards at each 90-minute practice.”
Greene competes at the Vestal Invitational on Saturday.

AFTON – Afton reversed a seven-point loss to Cooperstown from Tuesday picking up much-needed depth points in the final five events to defeat Cooperstown.
The Makos did not win the 500 freestyle or 100 breaststroke, but took second, third, and fourth in each event. Additionally, first-place finishes in the 100 backstroke, 200 free relay, and 400 free relay sealed the win.
Kurt Rogler and Steve Howe had multiple wins on the night for A/B-G/H/S. “We had a ton of personal-best times tonight,” said Makos coach Kevin Diefenbacher. “They are doing tons of yardage, and I told them they had to believe in themselves. And they did.”
