MORRISVILLE – Two weeks removed from its last game, Otselic Valley dusted off the game rust – right onto an overmatched Cincy club – to double up the Red Lions Saturday afternoon and SUNY Morrisville.

“We had a sluggish start after the long layoff, and we were glad to play again,” said OV coach Dave Loomis. “We have three games next week, and we needed something like this to tune us up.”

David Cerasani paced the Vikings (7-2) scoring 17 points, Brad Wentworth was next at the 13-point mark, and Justin Shapley was the third Vike in double digits netting 12.

Sidney 62, Greene 48

SIDNEY – Be it soccer, football or basketball, Sidney senior Mike Guerriere knows how to score.

Guerriere was marked closely by the Greene defense a few times, but escaped the Trojans’ defense too many times canning seven three-pointers on his way to a season-high 28 points.

“We contested a few of (Guerriere’s) shots, and when we didn’t find him, he hit the shots,” said Greene coach Jeff Paske.

Guerriere had five three balls in the first half as the Warriors constructed a 36-18 lead. Sidney finished 10-for-23 from beyond the three-point arc. “We needed to make them work for tougher shots, but when they’re shooting that well, they are tough to beat,” Paske said.

Dan Carlin had 16 points and five rebounds for Greene. Dustin Turner just missed a double-double scoring 10 points, while adding nine caroms and five pilfers.

G-MU 44, Franklin 27

FRANKLIN – G-MU has climbed back to even for the first time in a month raising its overall mark to 5-5 Friday night with its fourth victory in five contests.

Locked in a tight battle with the Purple Devils at halftime, the Raiders dominated on defense allowing just seven second-half points.

“The kids played a bit more intensely in the second half, and that was the difference,” said G-MU coach Bill Hartman. “We didn’t have the offensive distribution we wanted – only five people scored – but it’s a win and we’re happy about that.”
