G-MU 45, Morris 38
MORRIS – G-MU earned its first Tri-Valley League division win of the season Monday night getting a big offensive performance from senior Cody Hall.
Hall scored 21 of his 27 points after halftime on 9-for-10 shooting, and he added a team-high 11 boards. “He scored from all over, and they could not stop him,” said G-MU coach Bill Hartman of Hall.
G-MU did not have scoring balance, but a collective defensive effort limited Morris’ leading scorers, Eric Smith and Matt Conroe, to 15 combined points. “We had them pretty well scouted, and the kids understood what we wanted to do defensively,” Hartman said.
G-MU (1-2, 2-5) plays Otselic Valley Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the DeRuyter Tournament.

S-E wins Walton title
WALTON – Sherburne-Earlville canceled its scheduled tournament last weekend in Amsterdam, and instead requested a spot in the Walton-hosted Cuneen-Doane tourney. The change worked out perfectly for the Marauders who captured an overall team title for the second straight weekend.
Tyi Franklin (96), Spencer Franklin (103), Alec Sheddon (112), Greg DuVall (125), Daniel Hicks (130), and Chris Pike (130) won titles.
Derek Murray was second at 135 pounds, while Joe Knapp (145) and Braden Thornton (215) were third. The Marauders took just 10 wrestlers with nine placing among the top three.
“We wanted to get the kids a tournament before the break, and the people from Walton were more than happy to have us,” said S-E assistant coach Brian Hicks. “This was another nice win for us, and hope to have a full, healthy team available for the next tournament.”
S-E competes in the Mountain Duals at Herkimer Community College on Jan. 2-3.
