NEW BERLIN – Oxford outplayed Unadilla Valley from the opening tap, and took some retribution back from last year’s MAC championship game loss to the Storm with a thoroughly dominating win Wednesday night.

“We came out and played great defense,” said Oxford coach Tim Davis. “My guys were really fired up.”

Few if any teams have shown such superiority over the Storm, and a 32-7 halftime lead for the unbeaten Blackhawks was the largest halftime deficit UV has experienced in head coach Matt Osborne’s tenure. “We didn’t come mentally or physically ready to play, and I don’t know why,” Osborne said. “Their defensive pressure took us totally out of our rhythm on offense, and our guys were too tenative to shoot the ball.”

Raffi Perry scored 12 for Unadilla Valley (5-2), who had a four-game winning streak snapped.

DEPOSIT – Greene coach Jeff Paske said his team didn’t play shut-down defense, but it did plenty of scoring to win for the fifth time in seven games.

“They kept hanging around and it some threes at key times to stay in the game,” Paske said. “We did a good job of making that extra pass, and everyone was contributing on the offensive end.”

Chris Engler scored 12 of his game-high 24 points in the third quarter to move the Trojans’ lead to double digits. Dan Carlin completed his best all-around game this season finishing with nine points, 11 rebounds, six assists, and five steals.
