Oxford 63, Greene 36
OXFORD – Oxford never gave the Trojans a chance – a chance to hand the Blackhawks their first loss of the season.
Sweeping through a dominant first quarter in which it burst to a 14-2 lead, Oxford ran its perfect streak of wins to six straight games in surprisingly easy fashion Friday night.
Scott Seiler scored 17 points for Oxford, and established the host club’s early dominance nailing back-to-back three balls in the first quarter, then adding a fast-break layup on the next sequence to score eight points in just over a minute’s time.
The Blackhawks grew a 17-6 first-quarter lead to 30-13 by halftime, and Greene was never closer than 15 the rest of the way. “They passed ball, moved the ball around, and they hit their shots,” said Greene coach Jeff Paske. “ We switched things up on defense, but nothing seemed to work.”
After three straight baskets by Greene in the third quarter had it within 41-26, Cory Seiler connected on a three ball for Oxford on the next possession, and Scott Seiler sliced through the Trojans’ defense for a conventional three-point play to boost the lead back to 21.
Jeff Champlin scored 11 points, while Alex Champlin and Cory Seiler added 10 points apiece.

Greene 55, Afton 42
GREENE – Greene’s defense contained Afton’s prolific scorer Bryant Winans, and was able to bounce back Saturday after a blowout loss to Oxford the night before.
“I don’t know if we have UV to thank after playing (Afton) the night before,” said Greene head coach Jeff Paske. “Dan Carlin played (Winans) most of the time and Mark Day helped at times. The both of them with our team defense had a heck of an effort to hold Winans to just nine points.”
Winans had 35 the night before, but was double-teamed most of Saturday’s game every time he touched the ball.
Scott Gorton led a balanced Greene scoring lineup with 12 points, Dustin Turner had 10 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Carlin chipped in with three steals and three assists.

Morris Boosters tournament finals
Otselic Valley 52, Charlotte Valley 43
ONEONTA – Otselic Valley ran its perfect record to 8-0 winning the championship game of the Morris Boosters Tournament Saturday against two-time defending Section IV, Class D champion Charlotte Valley.
The Vikings took control of the game in the middle two periods to open a double-digit lead. “We were able to get command of the game in the third quarter, that was the difference,” said OV coach Dave Loomis, whose club advanced to the finals beating Morris Friday, 43-32. “We held on in the fourth quarter and made some good plays down the stretch.”
OV junior David Cerasani led the offense with 21 points. Chris Olin pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds, and Taylor Duell chipped in with nine points.
The Vikings shook off a ragged first quarter in which they scored just four points to get past the host Mustangs. Robert Guyer dumped in 14 points in the win, and Cerasani added 12.
