Oxford 3, Greene 1
GREENE – The third meeting was indeed the charm for Oxford, who avenged two earlier losses this season to the Trojans on Wednesday.
Scott Seiler added two more goals giving him 32 for Oxford this season, and Taylor Bates opened the scoring for the Blackhawks 9:19 into play. “They were more aggressive to the ball and took advantage of the 50-50 balls,” said Greene coach Rick Tallman. “They flat out wanted the game more than we did.”
Greene got on the board late in the first half cutting the count to 2-1 after Anthony McDaniels’ goal. The momentum was short-lived, Tallman said. “We came out and were controlling play early in the second half,” he said. “We couldn’t seem to get a good shot off, and we started to get discouraged. We broke down from there. Oxford beat us to death with through balls splitting our defense, and we didn’t respond.”
Greene dropped to 11-2-2.

Greene 1, Vestal 0
VESTAL – Greene retained its focus in the face of an emotional senior night at Vestal to post a shutout victory Wednesday night under the lights.
Christine Conroe had the lone goal for Greene tallying at 6:48 after an Erin Smith pass. The Trojans had ample possession time the rest of the way in the Vestal zone, but did not find the scoring touch. “We did dominate the game,” said Greene head coach Sue Carlin after the Trojans’ tenth win this season. “Their defense played pretty tough, and we weren’t able to cash in on some opportunities.”
The Trojans compete in the Rome Tournament this weekend beginning with Friday semifinal contest against Little Falls at 5:30 p.m.

Carmela Rinaldo and Ashley Rounds had second-half goals for the Lakers, the latter by Rounds coming as time expired. “It was a physical game and I think it got into my kids’ heads,” said S-E coach Sheila Cooman. “I can’t take anything away from Canastota. They have improved, no question about it.”
