Jesse Bates took a rebound off teammate April Small’s shot, and scored at 3:58 of the first overtime for the game-winner. “We didn’t play with as much effort in the first half; it was a flat performance coming off the Sherburne-Earlville Tournament,” said Greene coach Randy Smith.
Christina Butcher had B-G’s goal in the first half, and Megan McDermott provided the equalizer for the Trojans to knot the game up at halftime.
Greene earned wins over McGraw (2-1) and Mohawk Valley (2-1) for the title last weekend. “That was a big tournament win for us,” Smith said. “McGraw is a Class D state semifinalist from last year, and Mohawk Valley is a very good team. Those were quality wins over two tough non-league teams.”
The Trojans host Unatego Monday.
