OXFORD – Oxford made a 180-degree turn from its previous outing in a surprisingly easy win over Sidney Thursday.

Taylor Bates and Kyle Farrington paired up for the opening two goals just six minutes into the contest. In what were carbon copy plays from the opposite sides of the field, Farrington hit a crossing pass to Bates, who headed in the opening goal at 1:17. Five minutes later, it was Bates doing the passing and Farrington heading the ball into the net. “We came out ready to play today, and everything went a lot better,” said Oxford coach Tim Paden. “Sidney is not a bad team, we just had our day.”

Bates, Farrington, and Scott Seiler all had two goals. P.J. Hubman, Andrew Hubman, Tyler Stoddard, and Brandon Winner contributed tallies in the win.

NORWICH – Johnson City scored its first four goals in the opening 15 minutes of the first half, and allowed just one shot on goal in a shutout win Thursday.

Joel Collins finished with a hat track, and Danni Brockovic added two tallies. “Joe Krug made some phenomenal saves for us to keep us in the game,” said Norwich coach John McCumiskey. “We’re a young team and it’s going to be tough.”

STAMFORD – Joe Acanfora gave G-MU a one-goal halftime lead, and Cody Hall tacked on what would be the game-winner in the second half in G-MU’s victory Wednesday night at Stamford.

Chris Lanza, making his first appearance in a soccer game, had 10 saves for the Raiders.

DELHI – Delhi backed up a victory over Oxford on Wednesday with another blowout win in besting Unadilla Valley.

After a tight first half in which the Bulldogs led by one, three goals were scored within an eight-minute span making it 5-1 with 27 minutes yet to play. “They are really quick up front and they have just about everyone back from last year,” said UV coach Matt Osborne.

Alex Phrossell and Avery Meehan had two goals apiece for Delhi.

Mike Bluy had UV’s lone tally.
