GREENE – Greene turned the tables on Unadilla Valley in a major way.

Losers to the Storm in overtime (2-1) last month, Greene scored five second half goals in a rout. “They showed up, but they just didn’t play well,” said Greene coach Randy Smith. “There was a little bit of a revenge factor on our minds, but that was a different team than the one that beat us.”

Shelby Averett initiated her first career hat trick tallying the opening goal at the 31-minute mark. Megan McDermott made it 2-0 at the break following up an Autumn Layton shot. Haley Burns had two goals and Layton added a tally for Greene (9-6).

Delhi 1, B-G 0

BAINBRIDGE – Missing two of its front line offensive players due to injury and absence, B-G fell short against Delhi in suffering just its second loss to a league opponent this season.

Jean Viafore picked up a loose-ball scramble and tallied unassisted with just 2 1/2 minutes remaining in the game.

The Bobcats were missing Samantha Spalholz, who was out of town, and starting goalie Anna Feltham suffered a pre-game injury that sidelined her for the contest. Starting forward Jen Patten, one of the top two scorers on B-G, moved into the goalie position. “We outshot them and outplayed them, we just didn’t outscore them,” said B-G coach George Williams. “We kicked every ball at their goalies, but to their credit they hung onto all of them.”

B-G plays at Unadilla Valley Wednesday.
